After successful completion of the 4-Year Marine Engineering Degree Programme along with mandatory modular training courses, cadets become eligible to join Merchant Navy vessels as Junior Engineers / Trainee Marine Engineers.
With the required sea service, onboard experience, and by clearing competency examinations conducted by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS), Government of India, candidates can steadily progress through the ranks to become Chief Engineer within a few years of professional service.

| Eligibility | Pass in HSC / 10+2 from a Recognized Board with Minimum 60% Aggregate in PCM (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics). Minimum 50% Marks in English either in 10th or 12th Standard. |
